Description

A delicious twist on the classic cheesesteak sandwich, featuring tender beef, cheese, and sautéed vegetables in a crispy garlic bread loaf.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 French bread loaf (16 oz)
  • 8 oz thinly sliced flank steak
  • 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 cup sliced bell peppers (mixed colors)
  • 1 cup sliced sweet onions
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the sliced onions and bell peppers until soft, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Push the veggies aside and add the flank steak seasoned with salt and pepper. Cook until browned, approximately 3-5 minutes.
  4. Slice the French bread lengthwise and scoop out some soft bread from the center.
  5. Mix the steak and veggies with provolone cheese, and spoon generously into each half of the bread loaf.
  6. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

You can customize the filling by adding mushrooms, spinach, or using different kinds of cheese. Scooping out the bread helps the flavors meld better.
