Description
These air fryer churro bites offer a lighter way to enjoy the classic cinnamon-sugar treat no deep frying, no mess. Quick to make and perfectly portioned, they deliver crispy exteriors and soft centers in every bite.
Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup water
⅓ cup + 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 large egg
For the Coating:
1 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon powder
Instructions
1. In a saucepan, combine water, butter, salt, and sugar. Bring to a boil.
2. Reduce heat, add flour, and stir continuously until a dough forms. Remove from heat.
3. Transfer dough to a bowl. Cool for 4-5 minutes. Add vanilla and egg. Beat with a hand mixer until smooth.
4. Transfer dough to a piping bag. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Spray basket with nonstick spray.
5. Pipe bite-sized portions into the basket. Leave space between each.
6. Lightly brush tops with melted butter. Air fry for 10–12 minutes until golden brown. Work in batches if needed.
7. In a shallow bowl, mix cinnamon and sugar. Toss churros in mixture while warm. If needed, lightly brush with butter first.
Notes
• Ensure dough cools before adding the egg to prevent scrambling.
• If sugar doesn’t stick after frying, brush churros lightly with butter or spritz with water.
• For a dairy-free version, substitute margarine for butter.
• Try flavor variations with pumpkin spice or cocoa sugar.
