- 4 croissants, torn into pieces
- 6 eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar or gruyere)
- 1/2 cup cooked turkey sausage or chicken sausage, crumbled (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh herbs (e.g., chives, parsley)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
Instructions
- Grease a baking dish and preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Layer the torn croissants in the baking dish. Add cheese, sausage if using, and herbs.
- Pour the egg mixture over the croissant mixture, making sure it’s well coated.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
- In the morning, remove from the refrigerator and let sit for 20 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until set and golden on top.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Use day-old croissants for better texture. Customize the filling with your favorite vegetables.
