Description

A nutritious and versatile flatbread made with red lentils and chia seeds, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Red Lentils (soaked)
  • 1.25 cups Water (for blending)
  • 2 tablespoons Chia Seeds (or Flaxseeds)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil (for greasing)

Instructions

  1. Soak the Lentils: Begin by soaking 1 cup of red lentils in water for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  2. Prepare the Chia Seeds: Combine 2 tablespoons with 6 tablespoons of water in a small bowl and let them sit for about 10-15 minutes until they form a gel-like consistency.
  3. Blend Ingredients: In a blender, combine the soaked lentils, the chia gel (or flaxseed if using), 1.25 cups of water, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper. Blend until smooth.
  4. Pan Preparation: Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat and lightly grease it with 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
  5. Cooking Time: Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the pan, spreading it into a circular shape. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until bubbles form, then flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Repeat the Process: Continue cooking the remaining batter, adding oil to the pan as needed.
  7. Serve Warm: Enjoy the flatbreads warm for the best flavor.

Notes

These flatbreads are freezer-friendly and can be stored for up to 3 months. They are best served fresh but can be reheated on the stovetop.
