Description

A delicious twist on a classic burger, the Frisco Melt combines juicy beef with melted cheese and tangy sauce for a warm, gooey delight.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 8 slices sourdough bread
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon French dressing
  • 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Heat your skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly butter one side of each sourdough slice.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, French dressing, sweet pickle relish, onion powder, and garlic powder. Set aside the sauce.
  3. Lightly oil the skillet if needed. Lay down the beef patties, cooking them for 2–3 minutes per side until browned and fully cooked.
  4. On the unbuttered side of four bread slices, spread a generous spoon of Frisco sauce. Add a slice each of American and Swiss cheese, followed by a cooked beef patty. Top with another sauced bread slice, buttered side out.
  5. Place the sandwiches on the skillet. Grill over medium-low heat until golden and the cheese is melty, about 2–3 minutes per side.
  6. Let the sandwich rest for a minute or so before slicing—this helps the cheese set slightly and avoids burns.
  7. Slice diagonally, serve with fries or a crisp pickle on the side, and enjoy while warm and melty.

Notes

For a healthier option, use lean ground beef. You can switch up the cheeses or add fresh vegetables like lettuce or tomato.
