Description
A delicious twist on a classic burger, the Frisco Melt combines juicy beef with melted cheese and tangy sauce for a warm, gooey delight.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 4 slices American cheese
- 8 slices sourdough bread
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon French dressing
- 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Heat your skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly butter one side of each sourdough slice.
- In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, French dressing, sweet pickle relish, onion powder, and garlic powder. Set aside the sauce.
- Lightly oil the skillet if needed. Lay down the beef patties, cooking them for 2–3 minutes per side until browned and fully cooked.
- On the unbuttered side of four bread slices, spread a generous spoon of Frisco sauce. Add a slice each of American and Swiss cheese, followed by a cooked beef patty. Top with another sauced bread slice, buttered side out.
- Place the sandwiches on the skillet. Grill over medium-low heat until golden and the cheese is melty, about 2–3 minutes per side.
- Let the sandwich rest for a minute or so before slicing—this helps the cheese set slightly and avoids burns.
- Slice diagonally, serve with fries or a crisp pickle on the side, and enjoy while warm and melty.
Notes
For a healthier option, use lean ground beef. You can switch up the cheeses or add fresh vegetables like lettuce or tomato.
