Description

Soft and fluffy dinner rolls loaded with fresh garlic and brushed with rich garlic herb butter, perfect for holidays or everyday meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 3 1/2 cups + 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 cup whole or 2% milk, warmed to 110°F
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 beaten egg, for brushing the tops
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for garlic butter)
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic (for garlic butter)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (for garlic butter)
  • Flaky sea salt, for finishing

Instructions

  1. Lightly butter the bottom and sides of a 9×13 pan.
  2. In a small pot, melt the butter and cook the minced garlic for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from the heat to cool.
  3. In a stand mixing bowl, combine the flour, parsley, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add the warmed milk, egg, and the cooled garlic butter.
  4. Knead on low speed with a dough hook for 10-12 minutes until the dough is smooth, soft, and tacky. If the dough is too sticky, add one tablespoon of flour at a time.
  5. Cut the dough into 12 equal portions, about 67 grams each. Shape each piece into a smooth ball.
  6. Place the shaped dough balls into the prepared baking pan, cover with plastic wrap, and let them rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  8. Brush the tops of the rolls with the beaten egg wash. Bake for 20-30 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
  9. While the rolls are baking, make the garlic butter topping by melting the butter with the minced garlic for 1-2 minutes. Stir in the parsley.
  10. Immediately after the rolls come out of the oven, brush them with the garlic butter. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired and serve warm.

Notes

Serve warm as a side for any meal. Store in an airtight container for 2-3 days or freeze for up to one month. For extra flavor, add shredded parmesan cheese before baking.
