- 4 large onions
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (optional, e.g., thyme or rosemary)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Peel and slice the onions into thick rounds or wedges.
- In a large mixing bowl, melt the butter and then add the minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Toss the onion slices in the butter mixture until well coated.
- Spread the onions in a single layer on a baking sheet.
- Roast in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the onions are golden and tender, flipping halfway through.
- If using, sprinkle fresh herbs over the onions before serving.
Notes
For extra caramelization, try broiling the onions for the last few minutes. Can be frozen for up to 3 months.
