Ingredients

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Oil for frying
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
- Filling of your choice: pastry cream, jam, Nutella, etc.
Instructions
- Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let sit until foamy.
- In a large bowl, add flour and salt. Make a well and pour in the yeast mixture, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla.
- Mix until a dough forms, then knead for 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
- Roll dough to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into circles with a cookie cutter.
- Let rise again for 30 minutes.
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry doughnuts 1–2 minutes per side until golden.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Fill with pastry cream, jam, or Nutella using a piping bag.
- Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.
Notes
Use warm milk to activate yeast and knead well for a soft texture. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days and freeze for longer storage.
