Description

This Southern Maple Sweet Potato Casserole is velvety, comforting, and perfect for holiday meals. With roasted sweet potatoes, maple syrup, raisins, marshmallows, and a maple-pecan topping, it’s a crowd-favorite dish that balances sweet and savory.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large sweet potatoes
  • Maple syrup (to taste)
  • Brown sugar (to taste)
  • Raisins
  • Spices (like cinnamon)
  • Marshmallows
  • Pecans
  • More maple syrup (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Start by roasting the sweet potatoes until they are soft and cooked through.
  2. Once cooled slightly, scoop the sweet potato flesh into a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add the maple syrup, brown sugar, raisins, spices, and half of the marshmallows to the bowl. Mix until everything is combined.
  4. Spread the sweet potato mixture into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  5. Prepare the maple-pecan topping and sprinkle it evenly over the casserole.
  6. Bake for about 20 minutes. In the last 10 minutes of baking, you can add the remaining marshmallows on top to ensure they melt perfectly without disappearing into the casserole.
  7. Let the casserole cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm as a holiday side. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days and reheat in the oven at 375°F. For extra marshmallow goodness, add more when reheating.
