Description
A simple recipe for soft and fluffy homemade bread made in a crockpot, perfect for any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 packet (2 and 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
- 1 and 1/4 cups warm water (about 110°F)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast together.
- Add the warm water to the dry ingredients and stir until combined. The dough will be sticky.
- Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let it sit in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until the dough has doubled in size.
- Once the dough has risen, lightly flour a clean surface and turn the dough out onto it. Shape it into a ball without kneading too much.
- Place the shaped dough into a greased crockpot. You can use parchment paper to help lift the bread out later.
- Cover the crockpot and set it on low. Let it cook for 2 to 3 hours, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Carefully remove the bread from the crockpot and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
Serve warm with butter or jam, or use for sandwiches. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
