Description

A simple recipe for soft and fluffy homemade bread made in a crockpot, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 packet (2 and 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 1 and 1/4 cups warm water (about 110°F)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast together.
  2. Add the warm water to the dry ingredients and stir until combined. The dough will be sticky.
  3. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let it sit in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until the dough has doubled in size.
  4. Once the dough has risen, lightly flour a clean surface and turn the dough out onto it. Shape it into a ball without kneading too much.
  5. Place the shaped dough into a greased crockpot. You can use parchment paper to help lift the bread out later.
  6. Cover the crockpot and set it on low. Let it cook for 2 to 3 hours, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  7. Carefully remove the bread from the crockpot and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

Serve warm with butter or jam, or use for sandwiches. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
