Description

Delicious and crunchy potato balls made with creamy mashed potatoes, savory Parmesan, and garlic, perfect for snacks or appetizers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (cooled)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley (optional)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs (beaten)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
  • Vegetable oil (for deep frying)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, egg, salt, black pepper, and parsley (if using). Mix until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into a ball. Repeat until all the mixture is used.
  3. Set up the coating stations by placing the flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs in three separate shallow bowls.
  4. Roll each potato ball in the flour, dip it in the beaten eggs, and finally coat it in the breadcrumbs. Set the coated balls aside on a plate.
  5. In a deep pan or skillet, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry the potato balls in batches, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides (about 2-3 minutes per batch).
  7. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried potato balls to a plate lined with paper towels.
  8. Arrange the Parmesan Garlic Potato Balls on a serving platter and garnish with additional Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley, if desired. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

For a healthier option, consider baking the potato balls instead of frying them.
